Carlsen's 21st consecutive draw in classical chess
Looks a good bet to end that run tomorrow
That was an easy prediction. JvF certainly doesn't mind leading with his chin.

He's playing Norway 4 to 14 June, but presumably has the US Championships 20 to 31 March before then, there's also the World Teams 3 to 14 March as a possible?

What is Kramnik's worst ever tournament performance previously? Asking for a friend

Radjabov's turn to "do a Kramnik" (ie self-destruct) today.

Nobody else following this?

Peter Doggers report on Round 9. Nepo joins Carlsen and Anand in the lead after repeating Carlsen's 4 Nd3 in the Petroff. The Radjabov game referred to is annotated in the report. That 84...Kd6!! move was truly sensational. Svidler and Gustaffson duly impressed.

Well?

Nepo meanwhile gets whupped by van Foreest (even if he somehow dragged it out to move 60)

In the final game going, Carlsen is trying for a classic grind against his old sparring partner Anand.......

Not sure, but pretty classy of Vald to be interviewed after another defeat see Pete Doggers report, lost of top players wouldn't have done so
ress chief Tom Bottama started his interview with "Vladimir, the tournament is not going very well at all!" to which Kramnik duly replied: "Yes, I noticed also!"

The Russian explained: "Today I got to play a sharp line and I totally confused all my analysis. I got lost just after the opening, just messed up everything."

Kramnik wins a game!

Giri catches Carlsen after Shankland resigns in a drawn position; Nepo half a point back, with Ding & Vishy (who play each other tomorrow) a further half point away from the lead

Presumably he noticed he couldn't get his king into the corner and didn't notice that it didn't matter.
"Do you play chess?"
"Yes, but I prefer a game with a better chance of cheating."

Here's the finishing position in Giri-Shankland. As Anish explained afterwards "Sam said he'd had an hallucination and didn't realise the ending with a king on c8 would be drawn too (not just with a king on a8) - what an incredible end to the game!"

Round 11 report. I must admit I did wonder if Giri thought he was winning after he played b6 but he knew exactly what he was doing and it worked. Even asking Shankland if he was resigning just to make sure!
