When you make a post you have a short period of time during which the delete function is available.

I don’t think it’s a period of time. It’s just until somebody else posts on the thread.

I am not sure myself I would need to create a user account but I always thought members could delete their own posts.

That seems to make sense as the delete function was gone when I looked after reading your post.

That seems correct you cannot delete your own post once a reply has been made.

I was about to say that all the games in the main event have been drawn, but after three rounds of draws (6 games), today in round 4 MVL beat Aronian, and Caruana may be about to lose to Nakamura. But this is the tiebreaks, apparently. All the classical time control games drawn, I think.

I note the Open schedule has the double round as rounds 7 and 8, thus requiring the players to play the most concentrated chess at the tough end of the event. How common is this sort of schedule, as I thought most events have double rounds much earlier?

As a spectator, I'm not a fan of the current format for the top event. Two games are not enough for interesting commentaires... especially as of lately with so many games drfiting to early drawish positions.

Bring back the round robin tournament, out of 5 games it's more likely to have at least a couple of interesting ones!

If only the venue were available, we would have - as we did last year.

We had venue access from Sunday, 9th December to Sunday, 16th December only. There are schools events, which take priority, on Monday - Friday between 9am and about 3:30pm. We had to set up from scratch on Sunday, 9th December. So we only really had 10 viable slots to put 9 rounds into, and it was either Round 7 and 8 that were the double round day, or Round 8 and 9. I thought 7 and 8 were the better option.

Thanks that's what I expected to be the explanation but I hadn't checked the arrangements last year. And well done again to the game inputters for the speedy production of pgns for download. Its been good to follow the fortunes of a few friends as well as local rivals

Classical games all drawn again. MVL could lose the four blitz games and drop below Carlsen again. I *think* they play all the games regardless of the results, like in the British Knockout, but not sure.

All 4 games are in the main auditorium and for that matter the four positions are displayed on monitors in the foyer and commentary room.
