All Roads lead to Rhodes

Post by David Gilbert » Sun Dec 02, 2018 3:24 pm

It seems they do! The European Amateur Championships (and the European Seniors) take place on the island from 5 April 2019 to 15 April 2019 and the ACO’s World Amateur Champions start on 20 April 2019 to 29 April 2019. It’s time for the good times. Nice for people who enjoy playing chess on their holidays, not so good for those that don’t.

Gotta be pretty confident to book flights to Greece in the first week of April!

Followed immediately by the World Senior Teams at the same venue.

The map suggests the two hotels are adjacent. The ACO play in the mornings (and two afternoons), so we might walk along the beach in the pm from the Sheraton to the Olympic Palace to cheer on our old folk. 'Cause nothing's better than to walk in sand.

Sign of a rapprochement between ACO and the new FIDE regime, perhaps? Or just an accident?

The FIDE senior events were moved from different Greek venues and dates only quite late last month.
