The ECF may be trying to launch an online version. I don't have any details.

They are, I've seen the details; they will have gone to your county rep

Spot the bit I'm not delighted about
CCCUKI county teams by Division: Dorset, Hampshire, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Staffordshire, Sussex, Yorkshire
Devon, Herefordshire, Kent, Lancashire, Norfolk, Suffolk
Buckinghamshire, Cambridgeshire, Cheshire, Essex, Surrey
I've also seen the (provisional) nominations for the OTB u160 event, so I assume all the info is now available
Your participation, is as you know provisional, until such time as I ask you to confirm your nominated entry once details of the format of the competition and scheduling are known.
The competition remains suspended at this time and it is looking increasingly likely that it will not be resumed over the summer months. I will be in touch if and when I am looking at resumption. There will not be a draw until entries are confirmed and the entries known.

I look forward to seeing where the correspondence in Bucks has gone. The county captain isn't on line so if we are entering we will need a new officer in charge, and if this document has been in circulation for any time at all I'd have expected an invite to play.

I've pointed out to the county that told me about it (today) that the online version is going to be run by chess.com.

I'm not sure how much demand there is for on-line "serious" team chess, but I rather think the 4NCL got its feet under the table first and perhaps wisely elected to make teams multiples of 4. There aren't restrictive eligibilities either which can be a problem for counties with smaller catchment areas.

Perhaps down to ejh, chess.com doesn't have the best of reputations, on this forum at least.

If the county were quick off the mark then it might be able to harness some ex players no longer resident I believe there are at least half a dozen players participating in 4NCL on-line, least that was the number of games I was watching last week, only two of whom played for the county in the last Chiltern League season.

the correspondence went to County Captains and County Associations today.

Not to my phone contact. It is unreasonable to want responses in 2 weeks.

With Mark Murrell's permission I have posted the ECF proposal for an online County Competition on the Guildford CC website. You can down load it from this link: http://www.guildfordchess.co.uk/wp-cont ... CSec-2.pdf.

In case it is more convenient for anyone, I have attached the document here.

Carl, please could I suggest that all posts from Roger de Coverly's at 2.46 on 1st May onwards be moved to a separate thread entitled "ECF Online County Championship".

Why not have a separate thread entitled "Online Chess".

Of course the 4NCL is using lichess (as is a mini-league in Essex), and this event is going to use chess.com. For simplicity it would have been good to have had a single platform, but perhaps chess.com is easier for organisers. Obviously I don't know.

Group stage divided into groups of say 6 counties - probably on a regional basis
Surely there's no need to have a regional split in an online competition? I'd have thought playing against someone you otherwise wouldn't meet was a plus, rather than the possibility of playing someone who might play in the same leagues or congresses as you
