Julie Sussex & I talking at last 4NCL weekend about only one team in the Open & nothing for players in other sections. Looking at their scores so far is it possible that they will enter Minor Counties at National Stages with average below 180? To give them a chance to play County Chess this season.

On the lower sections Surrey suggested less boards 14 not 16. Struggling to get teams out without going to not just the team below but also to the team below that.

Is 4NCL actually growing? Just that an e-mail that we are struggling for 3 teams at the next weekend. So even though I got my lift at the last County match 26th sorted I may not need it on 9th/10th Feb.

Division 4 South is notionally 39 teams this season
http://www.4ncl.co.uk/1819_teams.htm

whilst notionally 30 last season
http://www.4ncl.co.uk/data/tables_1718.htm

Division 3 North shrank a bit with promoted teams leaving.

How many teams actually played last weekend?
How many teams will play the next weekend with it being further away.
Notionally up but actually?
The point is many players play both competitions.

There is a complete difference on defaults on six board matches in 4NCL to the defaults on 16 or 12 board County Chess. But I suspect you have not played County Chess for a while.

2017-2018 Division 4S

30 teams according to the cross table, except that

D&D United missed weekend 1, so 29 teams
Cambridge University 3 missed weekend 2
West is Best 4 missed weekend 4
Oxford 4 missed weekend 5

2018-2019 Division 4S

38 teams, except Barnet Knights 5 have yet to appear.

Camberley Juniors and Cambridge University 3 missed round 2, so 35 teams
Several teams with negative scores, indicating defaults

For the second weekend, Check Inmates 3, Barnet Knights 4, Chesstivus and Cambridge University 3 were missing, so 33 teams, increasing to 34 in round 4 when Check Inmates 3 reappeared.

We've got 14 teams but had 20 last season; 2 promoted but 1 relegated; a couple transferred South, some others gone, 1 new team

Big improvement on where we started though

Division 4s is as big now as Division 3s was when they split it into Division 3s and 4s.
