The three sizeable countries with the highest vaccination rates are Israel, Chile and the UK.

See https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/ ... n-lockdown and https://www.theguardian.com/society/202 ... -countries for two sobering articles about the differing experiences of the other two.
There is not a word about Chile predominantly using the Chinese vaccine; whose efficacy is much debated and generally speaking has been overstated

Nor the fact that while "cases" have bounced, deaths haven't.

They may yet, as deaths lag infections by four to five weeks.

I do of course hope and pray that the UK will be a second Israel in this regard.

You also have to remember all the time lags involved here. 3 weeks from jab to a vaccine doing anything, and a fair while from exposure to ending up in hospital.

Looking at that second article, Chile basically got hit by a wave maybe two months before having enough vaccination to really control it. We should be much better off than that - but it's why we're still being cautious now.

Mutants obviously another issue.

Israel turned to free pizza and beer to encourage younger people – who are less at risk from the virus – to have the vaccine and similar enticements might work in the UK

The first article does mention that Chile, unlike Israel, use the Sinovac vaccine, but doesn't say how widespread it is

Vaccines alone will not stop Covid spreading - here's why

The Swiss cheese model
Many of us are hoping vaccines against coronavirus will be our route out of lockdown, enabling us to reclaim our old lives. But scientists say jabs alone will not currently be enough and other measures are still needed.

Depends rather on what those "other measures" are.

If they introduce such a measure, I hope it will be applied retrospectively!

Some way from totally lifted yet, and not just in London but across the UK.

Why do governments which have removed liberties from their people ever give them back? As they say in Lidl, "when it's gone, it's gone".

June 21st has been (conditionally) set as the date when restrictions will be totally lifted. It's being done in gradual stages.
