June 21st has been (conditionally) set as the date when restrictions will be totally lifted. It's being done in gradual stages.
"Totally" being as yet undefined.

What could happen is that legal prohibitions are removed but replaced by guidance. For example it might be legal to assemble 100 people in a room for a chess tournament, but guidance issued by a government, local authority, insurers or ECF might say NO for most practical purposes.

Well private bodies like insurers or indeed the ECF may indeed want to set their own "guidance".

The point is surely though that once things become no longer prohibited by law, the pressure to permit them will likely be considerable.

Why some way away?
Why do governments which have removed liberties from their people ever give them back? As they say in Lidl, "when it's gone, it's gone".
What liberties?

The right to say goodbye to parents before they die, for instance.

Latest from Barnard Castle's least favourite visitor
Mr Cummings continues that he is "happy for No 10 to publish every email I received and sent July 2019-November 2020".

He also calls for an "urgent parliamentary inquiry into the government's conduct over the Covid crisis", adding that he thinks Mr Johnson has fallen "far below" the standards of "competence" the "country deserves".
Which is true, but doesn't explain why he helped him get there, and worked for him when he did

Chess arbiters are also taking the rights of players.

Because he believed even Boris was preferable to Jeremy, perhaps?

I doubt Corbyn ever entered his thoughts at all, except as someone handy to crush on his way to the top.

But now it looks like we're heading into a third wave because the UK government is so utterly useless. It absolutely beggars belief how they can keep making the same mistakes over and over again    . Well, at least I get my second shot on Friday, so I might be alright, depending on its efficacy against the India variant.

We aren't heading into a "third wave", this is pure sensationalism.

Though yes, our PM should have been less concerned with keeping Modi sweet at literally any cost.

Tonight on BBC2 9pm until 10.05 pm.
Unvaccinated
From The Sunday Times, Culture Section
"The professor Hannah Fry meets seven unvaccinated people to investigate why five million remain unprotected against Covid-19, and to find out if any of them will change their mind about their decision."
"Hannah Fry - mathematician and presenter of BBC2's recent 'Making Sense of Cancer' - investigates why eight per cent of the British population have never had an anti-Covid jab. Seven unvaccinated people are brought together with experts, and eventually invited to receive their first dose of the vaccine. "

I can't think of a better example for this thread. The Government may have given up on Operation Terror, but the BBC never will.
