Week 12

The fans were unbelievable today - what a difference it made Scott Parker (Fulham). London in Tier Three from Wednesday.

Firstly I've managed to write two reports then promptly deleted them before posting. Week 13 is now under way. In Week 11, I suggested that Lawrence Cooper was ready to challenge - and what a challenge it was, as he swept past the top five teams with his score of 81 points. Nevertheless this wasn't the zenith of the week which was James Friar's 83 point haul. Meanwhile for a third successive week Alex Bullen recorded the low score; this time of 27 points. A couple of seasons ago Alex was amongst the front runners, this time he's slip sliding away towards 120th and last place.

1 Wengerboys Lawrence Cooper 81 792
2 Free Wendy Roland Graf 49 790
3 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 74 786
4 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 61 784
5 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 43 773

Finally Another football legend has passed away. Watch Paulo Rossi score six goals in the 1982 World Cup for Italy.

Week 13

"We’re giving it our best shot. If we keep playing like that, hopefully the luck goes our way.” Sam Johnstone WBA 'keeper before the sacking of manager Slaven Bilec.

Well Sam "never relegated" Allardyce is the new replacement manager at West Brom. Several papers make barbed remarks about Jurassic managers called in when things are going wrong. In the Premier Chess League this week it was mediocre seasonal fare for everyone; witness the fact that top score of 66 from Dominic Rabbitte was only 45 in front of low scorer Chris Davison on 21 with the remaining 118 teams squashed somewhere in between. There was little change at the top - there are still 29 teams within 100 points of leader Lawrence Cooper. Week 14 follows quickly.

1 Wengerboys Lawrence Cooper 48 840
2 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 51 835
3 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 43 829
4= Free Wendy Roland Graf 29 819
4= #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 46 819

Finally Week 14 will see the first team to reach the 1,000 pt mark - current leader is ola hovde on 976 points. Last year it took till Week 15 to reach this milestone so we could be heading for a mammoth high score for the year.

Week 14

"These players are not good enough to play for Arsenal. They are a country-mile from where they need to be. Graeme Souness gives his thoughts on the Gunners squad.

After last week's diet of leftover points, the main course arrived this week with several teams scoring 90+ points mostly courtesy of Liverpool & Mancheste United. Full Christmas dinner with trimmings to Jon Peters Aimless Wanderers with 97 points whilst Barry Redburn's team Peregrine Wellies were left with the stuffing on a low of 19 points. Barry's team featured in the top five early in the season and is now in 76th place. For the first time since Week 2 we have lost Roland Graf from the top five; Sam Smith taking over first place whilst Harvey Kelly has vacated 120th and last place to be replaced by Dave Ledger's Beardhair.

1 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 94 929
2 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 86 915
3 Wengerboys Lawrence Cooper 70 910
4 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 87 906
5 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 89 899

1,000 pt barrier exceeded 43 teams smashed the 1,000 pt mark in Week14 with seven scoring over 100 points in the Game Week.

Week 15

My confidence is in myself and how I run a football club Sam Allardyce.

Come what may, Week 16 commences the day after Week 15 finishes. Congratulations to Robert Ashworth who is looking high, high, high by achieving the top score of the week with 77 points whilst as predicted Alex Bullen is now rock bottom after his minimal 11 points relegates him to 120th and last position. It's certainly a time for making your mind up as a short Week 18 will be followed by a doubling up for many teams in Week 19; in addition to Week 16 being qualification for the Cup - so are you sure you have the right players in? Even if you haven't used your wild card, let me be the one to tell you that sounds good to me so go and use it now!

1. CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 50 979
2 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 62 977
3 Wengerboys Lawrence Cooper 49 959
4 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 55 954
5 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 51 953

Finally Flying the flag for Norway is Ola Hovde - still overall leader on 1134 points.

One Step Further - and in the week we finally leave the EU, how many British Eurovision Entries can you spot? Bonus for a Luxembourg winner!

Week 16

“Match at 6pm... We still don’t know if we play. Best league in the world,”A furious Jose Mourinho at 2.02pm still trying to find out if Spurs match was postponed.

Cancellation of two matches (Everton v Manchester City; Fulham v Spurs) both at the last minute caused plenty of problems for fantasy league managers. No assistance either from Mo Salah, as the most-captained manager in fantasy football failed to trouble the scorers in a 0-0 draw between Newcastle and Liverpool. The top five Premier Chess teams break the 1,000pt barrier; three weeks ago there were 29 teams within 100 points of our leader; now just 19 remain. At the summit this week is Melvin Pool with his Melvinho XI whilst plumbing the depths on 19 points is Samuel Watts with KunBucket - only able to get seven players on the field. At the foot of the table Alex Bullen and Dave Ledger fight for last place.

1 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 54 1033
2 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 37 1014
3 Salt & Pepe Onos Kofi-Ofuafor 61 1013
4 Wengerboys Lawrence Cooper 52 1011
5 #NolanOut Rhys Cumming 52 1005

Oop for the Cup A game week score of at least 37 points was required for qualification. 44 teams failed with six teams finishing on 37 points; 4 in the draw; 2 out on tiebreak. In a what are the chances of that happening question? We find our top team Sam Smith's Change Name drawing the 22nd placed side Kaia Means All is not lost in Round One. As there were 4,194,303 prospective opponents a coincidence.
Incidentally Kaia playing under the Norwegian Flag is a complete unknown - can she defeat frontrunner Sam?

Finally The Eurovision quiz has engendered a "nil response". So before I give the answers the Luxembourg winner was Vicky Leandros singing the 1972 winner "Come What May". For readers of a nervous disposition it was originally sung in French as "Apres Toi". The translated version reached No 2 in the UK charts. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0akne-gBa0A

Fortunately for me my bench scored 21 so it worked out well that Lloris, Stones, Son and DCL were left without a game.

A fair chance Chelsea v Manchester City will be off so hopefully my players score. My bench got a boost when one player came on in injury time. Happy New Year.

A footnote to the Cup pairings. I see that Kaia's All is not lost is still paired with " CHANGE NAME" - but it's a different team to the original pairing against Sam Smith. Bearing in mind the "Report offensive name" button, I've now found that a whole lot of offensive names must have been deleted and replaced by "CHANGE NAME". In the top 1,000 teams there are five "CHANGE NAME" and one "CHANGED NAME" - followed through to a conclusion there must be over 4,000 teams called "CHANGE NAME".

Week 17

I'm delighted with the experiences I've had and I've had some experiences to say the least! Chris Wilder. Finishing with the least number of points in the Premier Division will be a new one then.

16 teams have now broken the 1,000 point barrier; whilst 4 are still to reach 700. Amongst these is Alex Bullen with the lowest points of the week, 22, and he has resumed his position in last place and will probably trail our leaders by 500 points in Week 18. Other than that it was a high scoring week with Mark Talbot on 96 points just failing to reach three figures (had his first substitute James Ward-Prowse played he would have made it). We have lost Rhys Cummings from the top five for the first time. Can he make a comeback - find out next time?

1 CHANGE NAME Sam Smith 61 1094
2 Wengerboys Lawrence Cooper 66 1077
3 UTB UTA UTQ John Garnett 62 1076
4 Salt & Pepe Onos Kofi-Ofuafor 57 1070
5 Slumdog Mignolet Sam Herring 76 1061

Oop for the Cup Having been knocked out :( I've not made a check of the 76 or so teams still in the draw. We normally lose half every round so guess we should still have about 40 going. Lawrence Cooper, John Garnett and Onos Kofi-Ofuafor are our leading managers still competing, League leader Sam Smith finding 61 points insufficient for the next round draw.

I'd just like to express my sympathy for Sam Herring.

He captained Sterling, who unexpectedly stepped up for a last minute penalty and put it into orbit. -2, ouch.
