Kung Fury, thoughts?

Post by MJMcCready » Sat Jan 30, 2021 1:21 am

The following movie is barely 30 mins long. I find it to be thoroughly entertaining (although rather tongue in cheek in places)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bS5P_LAqiVg&t=996s

What do you think to it. It's an amusing send up of the 1980s I think and well thought out in my opinion.

Are you suggesting that Hong Kong Phooey wasn't real?

He really was a cartoon character but his real name was Penrod "Penry" Pooch voiced by Scatman Crothers.

Anyway, back to the question....

Earlier than that. 1960s is the clue.

"Emma Peel - The Avengers"

Or was it Tara King? I thought Emma was karate? I suspect the programme makers wouldn't have a clue - it was just a fight sequence to them!

Yes, Diana Rigg was the first (real) actor to use Kung Fu on a British television programme.

In terms of realism I doubt whether that comes close to Kung Fury.
