Start Date of Next Lockdown?
Anyone wishing to speculate on the date of the next lockdown?
Mid-August?
Apparently the pandemic is over in England today.
I've contacted Pete Townshend and Roger Daltrey to let them know they can remove England from their radar.

I'm sorry, but the number of infections are still high there.
Congrats for less deaths anyway

There won't be one, the political cost to Johnson and his chums would be too high.

fewer deaths rather than less deaths.
use fewer for plurals and less for singulars.

Re: Date for Next Lockdown?
If the vaccination protection survives then I don't think there will be one, not in the strictest sense anyway - the vaccinations give enough protection that it might well do more damage than good.
Not that what they're doing today is remotely sane of course. If the virus infects as many as it apparently might, with self isolation rules in place I guess that all the people isolating will mean we're not far off a lockdown in a practical sense.....
The economic effects could be really very bad.
(Not that dropping the self isolation rules is any sort of solution either, you just shouldn't unlock until you can survive things rationally.).

Re: Start Date of Next Lockdown?
I think the PM said a few months back that a third lockdown is probable. With numbers going up so fast they had better spike and start dropping down or come this winter, a third lockdown is indeed probable.

Yes, Mick but they were so close together they should only be counted as one!

Who could forget (apart from Boris Johnson, apparently) that there was a clear month between Lockdowns #2 and #3 (last December) when we had the 4 - tier system?

Here in Bolton we seem to have had an almost continuous variety of lockdowns; not as bad as Leicester, but it is easy to forget we had restaurants shut here while they were open everywhere else, for example
Take care
Mick

Re: Start Date of Next Lockdown?
It would appear that it becoming easier to predict the date of the start of the next lockdown.
Any takers?

Oodles of vaccinations, mouths covered by tea bags, politicians jetting off to the sun, flight path towards herd immunity for the young and anti-vaxxers, 100 cricket, and full football stadiums next month.
There will not be another lockdown this year.

What level of hospitalisations have been agreed as being the trigger point do we think?AnthonyKent wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 3:30 pmOodles of vaccinations, mouths covered by tea bags, politicians jetting off to the sun, flight path towards herd immunity for the young and anti-vaxxers, 100 cricket, and full football stadiums next month.

One per 66 NHS staff. I suppose that would qualify as "overwhelmed".John Upham wrote: ↑Fri Jul 23, 2021 4:04 pmWhat level of hospitalisations have been agreed as being the trigger point do we think?
20,000 perhaps?

And in terms of ICU bed capacity and occupancy?
