Chess players and fitness

Post by Frank Kamau » Sat Nov 13, 2010 12:09 pm

On yahoo there is an article about symptoms of a heart attack. Do chess players have to or need to focus on fitness (not just for chess) but a healthy heart and avoid cholesterol, high blood pressure issues etc? Chess is a sport or a hobby (dependent on what definition you look at) but should one just have their work life and chess or does one need to keep fit as well?

I think Chess players are not very fit to be honest........but depends really, I know Rosalin Keiron runs in marathons.

My fitness is

4-6 90 minutes weights
8-10 HIIT cardio sessions
3 or 4 pre comp , 1-3 hour martial arts work.

Sadly......Im a awful chess player , so don't really count towards your Q
