Subbuteo Table Football

Post by Scott Freeman » Mon Apr 04, 2011 2:29 pm

Did anyone every play this? Would anyone be interested in joining a club? I have just found stacks of equipment during a house sale and clearance of loft and am thinking of putting it to good use.

It was brilliant

We had our own league of 8/10 players and played all of
the games on a table in this kids house that had a huge spare bedroom.

He supplied the pitch and stuff all we needed to buy was a team.
I bought Grimsby Town becuase they had the most colourful strip.
b/w strips, red shorts.

The other great looking teams were Coventry all sky blue
and Athletiic Madrid red/white stripes, royal blue shorts.

I lost 4-3 in the semi's of our cup to the lad who ran the league.
His street was marked for demolition to be replaced with a typical
60's high rise slum. (which when my street was up demolition
we moved into).

That was the end of that. Super days though.

I used to run the club at school but haven't done much with it all since. I assume you live too far from Coulsdon to join then? It's only about 440 miles each way once a week......

Am sure there must be a way of playing by a proxy player using the internet. You get someone living down here to play whilst you watch on camera and tell him which player to flick and at what angle.......

I don't have time to play in a league but if you organise a RP (with Fischer timing of course), I'll have a go...

I used to get teams every birthday and Christmas. And all the extras too of course - like scoreboards, managers dug-outs and the like. No idea what happened to my stuff. Fair chance, 25-30 years on, it's still up in my mum and dad's loft.

I think, perhaps, I'll not be able to play in a league, but I wish you well.

There is a Subbuteo Computer game. Also this site is worth a look.
