Usual silly question - New Years Honours List 2020?

When was the most recent year that the ECF (or maybe it was the BCF?) recommended anyone for an honour?

Is the ECF prepared to answer the question or, in fact, do they know accurately ?

Without Sir Stuart Milner-Barry it is more difficult to get something approved : this could be the stumbling block.

Look, it doesn't need ECF or any official body to make a nomination - an individual can make the application - perhaps supported by a letter from ECF or similar, but this is not essential. I did it for my mum and she had a great day out at the Palace and felt the award validated how she had lived her life.

I will happily work with anyone who wants to nominate someone - PM me if you wish

I can't find any chess related honours in the 2021 New Year List but I note that an ex-British champion receives a damehood

On a non-chess front. I was pleased Rob Burrow received an MBE. The BBC documentary about his MND was very moving.

I have been away and not had time to trawl through the New Year honours list. I presume in the absence of any sightings that chess is not mentioned as usual.

I do a search for "chess" along with my profession and a few places with which I have connections. Nix
