The Open Golf

The BBC's on-course reporter Phil Parkin has just accused Tiger Woods of "playing chess". He wasn't. I think this was meant to be a reference to his relatively risk-averse strategy of taking irons of the tees.

By the way, it's £75 quid admission. Does that seem a bit steep? Or value for money?

edit - I see GM Arkell has made the same point elsewhere.

They teed off at what, 0630? The last group will go off just after 1600, and play will finish in relative darkness at just after 2100. £75 for 14 hours' entertainment, at the most prestigious golf tournament in the world? Doesn't sound like it's unreasonable to me.

It was £75 for the Test Match at Trent Bridge.

Compare that to the cost of ECF Bronze membership ...

It's £75 for men, £750 if you're a women!
