1. I do not see any relevance for "colorless" (or "colourless") - nothing to do with what I said

2. "possibly" - the sentence is not clear as written .... say there were 4 "attractive continuations" A, B, C and D, the writer could be trying to convey that not a single one of them was good - all of A, B, C or D led to a poor position - or s/he might mean that it is possible that one or two of them might be good but it's not possible that each one of them is ... you would have to assess the context

3. I would infer from the first phrase that ... a4 could be played and, at some later stage, ...c4 - the second formulation has - to me - the sense that ...c4 would follow on the next move or soon thereafter

What's the difference between
I can still continue with ... a4 and a later ... c4.
and
I can still continue with ... a4 and then ... c4.
?
The second wording implies that .. a4 will be followed immediately by .. c4, whilst the first wording suggests that a few other moves might take place between .. a4 and .. c4 .

What's the difference between
a better endgame
a superior endgame
and

In
A possible continuation is [...], doubling rooks on the d-file.
What does " doubling rooks on the d-file" mean?

It means putting both of them on the d file. It's the same idiom as doubled pawns. double = two/twice

I mean is it equivalent to replace it by
[...] which doubles rooks on the d-file

I'd be inclined to rank them in terms of confidence of winning.

Promising - lowest
better - middle
superior - highest

The original author may have had other subtleties in mind or was just changing his words for variety

So would I, but my order would be:

better - lowest
superior- middle
promising - highest
