"Fail to prepare - prepare to fail"

(Yes I know it's a generic one, but it fits)

I agree Jack - easy to get tilted ... even within a game. Need to focus on the position in front of you, not how you missed Qf4, or why you haven't won already , etc...

Sometimes you need to earn the right to play a titled player.

The only way to avoid making mistakes is to do nothing. And that is the biggest mistake of all.
I devised that, but others may have done so as well. It works better for administrators than for player.

The winner of the game is the one who mkes the penultimate blunder. Paraphrased from Tartakower.

All the mistakes are there, waiting to be made. Also Tartakower.

Of chess it has been said that life is not long enough for it, but that is the fault of life, not chess, Chernev.
