Latenight (the handle of marty the owner of icc) has given me an update to the publicising of myself as the person who beat nigel in 2001, he says publicity must wait because his tech unit are working on the icc servers currently and he wants to time the publicity effectively.

i explained to Latenight that publicity could backfire like it did recently with Neimann, even though there was signifcant evidence Neimann wasnt cheating and if he was arent they all cheating the same way? Anyway it is quite likely if it came out that i was the person thought to be fischer in 2001 then they would then claim, falsely, i cheated then and there would be bad publicity for the icc. Latenight seemed unperturbed by this.

Being blunt, we've seen a lot of your analysis and chess judgement and thus doubt whether you have ever been good enough to defeat Nigel Short without external assistance.

i have only shown you the worse of my games, where i have made tremendous blunders, most games i make small blunders and i deliberately play difficult positions where blunders would be common-in complex positions even magnus would falter in them.

Dont judge my ability on my record against seemingly low rateds, they are all underated by a huge margin.

I suppose the assistance could have been an extremely heavily intoxicated Nigel short, but even that would still be tough to beat - drunk players never seem to perform quite as badly as you would hope they might (some even managed to capture world championships...)
Lose one queen and it is a disaster, Lose 1000 queens and it is just a statistic.

Welcome back Alan!
This reminds of a famous quotation from Julius Caesar (Kenneth Williams) in Carry on Cleo.

I'm not judging your ability on your record. I played through your games against Latin Americans on chess.com, and you lost most of them to simple counting errors, often in the face of equally incompetent play by your opponents.

Alan. Am I right in thinking that on response to beating Nigel Short, the chess world has conspired to make you face players who are super GM strength but disguised as ECF 1400s?
