Plenty of village pubs round there, almost all of which do food. Take your pick.

Re: Midlands counties in the National Stages
We won 8.5 – 7.5
Our juniors scored 4.5/5, the rest of us were lucky to get as many as 4/11 – despite the digital clocks 2 of us lost on time (me included) as did 1 of theirs
We play Lancs in the quarter final…….

In other Midlands news, as reported elsewhere, Lancashire tell me they beat Warwickshire 11.5-4.5. I'm going to assume good faith on the part of the Lancashire correspondent on that one, for the time being!

Re: Midlands counties in the National Stages
Roughly what you would expect
So Lancs have quarter finals for Open, u180, u160, u140, u120 all scheduled for the same day - I believe their opponents could insist on that?
And they all clash with Rhyl and e2e4 that weekend - should be fun

Re: Midlands counties in the National Stages
Their opponents can indeed insist on that, and there's nothing in the rules that allows me thrust a date upon them. (If they all make the final, for instance, they have to play on the same day!) I've noticed that opposition counties are usually happy to vary the date, which is fine by me.Mick Norris wrote:Roughly what you would expect

If Lancashire accepted nominations in all of these sections, they must already have made sure they can cope with overlapping sections.
I don't think the e2e4 event in Amersham is a big deal for Lancashire, but Rhyl might be.

That's right have emailed you Alex......We were soundly beaten. An highlight for us was Henrik Stepanyan on board 3 beat a 223 graded player.Alex Holowczak wrote:Mick Norris wrote: In other Midlands news, as reported elsewhere, Lancashire tell me they beat Warwickshire 11.5-4.5. I heartily recommend the Newcastle Under Lyme Bridge Club for matches in the Midlands. Great venue, no need to take sets along, close to town centre.

Are Greater Manchester and Cambridgeshire continuing to play dare with each other, each waiting for the other county to e-mail them player lists?Mick Norris wrote:and we eagerly await an email from Cambs to save us typing out their team details ............

Alex
You could ask the captains?
G Man turned up with at least 2 printed copies of your official reporting sheet, typed up with players names, grades and grading codes
Cambs wrote their team with names and grades on apiece of paper, took 1 of our copies with them and advised they would complete same and return by email

I've now got a result sheet. Turns out they had the wrong version of it though. Result safely reported.Mick Norris wrote:Alex

Middlesex have conceded by default to Notts in the Under 160 section.

Re: Midlands counties in the National Stages
Disappointing, means Notts have played 2 games this season and reached the semi, and we are playing our 5th game on Saturday in the quarter final
