ECF members were all sent a provisional list of games to be graded about 2 weeks ago. (A perk of membership!)

But it is still 3 weeks or so until the list is finished.

This needs to be added to the main site if Howard ever gets free time again that is

Carl

Two weeks on - is there any progress to report? (The list was out on 21 July last year.) Are you still hoping to get it out before the British Championships?

I'll think if you look now you'll see it was done this morning.

I see players are now published with a rating of zero (0)

Is this a change of policy?

http://grading.bcfservices.org.uk/getre ... ef=272764L

I calculated this players rating to be -36

Been the case for a few years I think John. Anyone with a negative grade gets 0 instead, and this grade is then disregarded the following year when calculating that players new grade.

John, surely you realise the Surrey Border League website figure is pretty meaningless:

1. Most of his opponents have SBL estimated grades which are unlikely to be the same as their actual grades.
2. He's played a mixture of standard play and rapidplay, which you haven't separated.
3. The ECF calculation includes games from the previous season which the SBL calculation doesn't.

I agree totally, but I was curious to see -36 fudged to zero.

What did you calculate for him based on his SBL games?
How many Standard play games did he play?
I will include 3. for the next enhancement.

A minor point John but your website calculates this lad as -6, not -36!!

More importantly, when we calculated Leicestershire grades last year and published them the ECF threatened to sue us for breach of copyright!!

Not quite on topic but..
when the new list comes out, will it have the old grade calculated?

Many people will be able to accurately calculate it from the listings sent recently, but not everyone receives one.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who has been tring to break a personal milestone for years, and this will be the last chance to do so - before the revisions.
So as this years grades featured the provisional ones - I hope the new list will also feature the out-going grades.
Besides, I'm sure the comparison would be useful for other reasons.

I already know I haven't reached my milestone :( though I'm usually within 5 or 6 points and once was 1 point short.
Now I'll never get there!
Oh well..

Not sure what you mean by old but previous discussions just indicated me displaying the new calculated grade

I was intrigued that the Preliminary Results Check received yesterday was in old money. So we are being kept in suspense until end July/early August to find out our “new grades”, and then we can decide which events we are going to enter.
