Last night the end of month ECF rating calculations failed.

We are looking into it.

I'm aware that it's April 1st but one genuine glitch I did find was that when searching by club it only shows March, not April ratings.

The match cards on the LMS are all blank for current rating

Tournaments as well. The data for two sections at the Bourne End one day has been posted but there's no calculation.

LMS failed as well. We haven't got to right to the bottom of things but expect to catch up both LMS and the rating system overnight.

The LMS match cards look right now, but the games played on Tuesday evening (31 March) haven't been rated, which presumably affects the April blue original ratings

Maybe you should email me with specifics. I suggest you check the rating system first, it might be LMS has not quite caught up.

My heavy defeat on Tuesday night went through on LMS .

I see that I am rated in the top 100 over-60s on the list. Which is nice in a way, but I don't actually reach that age until September

The top player list works on "FIDE age". It changes on 1st January based on the age one attains in the year.

Enjoy it while you can, another cohort arrives at the end of the year. They tend to push aside incumbents.

I'm number 4 in 65+, but even extending down to 50+ I'm still number 6. Does this suggest that players central to the English Chess Explosion - eg Speelman and Nunn, are hard to displace?

It's not so clear at the very top, but further down. Consider what happens in the next to those in the age group when you qualify for 70+. Many seniors could learn from the exceptions who seem to retain their rating with increasing age.

Lots of people flagged as "Vet" in the St Albans entries for next weekend. Mostly in the lower two sections. The top seed, Paul Littlewood, qualifies.

By far the most common way for seniors to retain their rating, for a couple of years at least, is to stop playing.

It works for me.

The May end of month rating update also appears not to have run last night.
