It probably was the "luckier" one, I thought people would argue about Gary Player!

I rather thought that the new grades would be out today - don't know why. Just seemed to think that the last weekend in January was when it happened last year.

Re: January 2014 Grades
It was the morning of Saturday 26 January 2013 last year.
The final final deadline for receipt of results set by Richard Haddrell this time was 23:59 on Thursday 23 January.

Then Richard Haddrell hits <ENTER>, and the new grades print off at 00.01 on Friday 24 January.Paul Buswell wrote:The final final deadline for receipt of results set by Richard Haddrell this time was 23:59 on Thursday 23 January
No?

Dear Dave,
When Richard H reads that anyone thinks it could be so simple he'll be reduced to tears.
Best regards, John
PS Mike was spot on then with "reductionist".
PPS Please note that I used the word anyone and not the word you - just in case you were being ironic.

Re: January 2014 Grades
The grades are usually out by now, but the deadline was extended by a few days to allow for the submission of late results and so there may have been some slippage.
Putting together the six-monthly grading list is a big task, and I'm very grateful to the volunteers who make it happen. But I wonder whether the ECF could be a little more open about when they expect to publish. There doesn't seem to be a communication strategy for something that is eagerly awaited by so many players.

Well here's being a little more open.
The team is always concerned that some mistake may have occurred and this usually means lots of backtracking and delay, making scheduling difficult.
I think the people who matter have signed off that the list is OK. There is now a last step to put the list onto the ECF website.

Thanks to everyone who worked on this to get it out overnight.
Most of my 12 players with their first ever grade will be pleased, and they will now stop hassling me!

Re: January 2014 Grades
There are a handful of events each grading list which miss the deadline. When they do eventually get submitted, they go into the next list which, for many players, completely distorts their grade. Any suggestions as to what the ECF should do with late submissions?

I'm not sure why they would completely distort the player's next grade, but then I don't think it's ever been explained how the ECF currently deals with this.Sean Hewitt wrote:There are a handful of events each grading list which miss the deadline. I wouldn't expect any recalculation of current grades to be done. I would expect the late results to be put in their correct chronological sequence amongst the player's other games, so that the next grade for the player includes those results, and they drop out of the most recent 30 games just as if they had been submitted on time. (Of course that means if the player plays more than 30 games in 6 months, the late games will not count towards his grade.)

Name and shame and the players will comment at the next event.Sean Hewitt wrote:There are a handful of events each grading list which miss the deadline.
