Robert Richmond

Post by Neil Graham » Thu Jan 16, 2020 2:27 pm

The ECF website gives details about Robert https://www.englishchess.org.uk/rip-rob ... 1956-2020/ whose unexpected death occurred last week.

Robert was a well known chess administrator and will be missed by his many friends across the chess world.

Very sorry to read this. Rob and I overlapped at Pembroke College - he was a couple of years younger and a much stronger player. A nice person.

Sad to hear this. We played a few times on the same Aylesbury team in the mid 1990s, usually at opposite ends of the board order.

The arrangements for Robert's funeral may be found at:

Robert played and organised chess in many locations; please pass on the details to those who knew him well and who may not visit the EC Forum or the ECF website.

The Nottinghamshire Chess Association website gives some reflections about Robert Richmond, who very sadly passed away aged 63 on 9 January 2020:
