I happened to be browsing the ECF online grading list and was saddened to see the following entry...
Brocklesby, Stephen P (deceased)
Steve was listed as a member of Coulsdon CF and it appears his last graded games were played mid-2018. I think he lived in Wallington and worked as an accountant.
I remember Steve as being a long-time member of the (long defunct) Mitcham CC in the 1980s and 1990s. He was a strong player (around 170) and of a quiet disposition (by which I'm probably saying that he was less inclined to hang around pubs like more typical Mitcham CC members). I'm surprised news of his death has not been recorded here or anywhere else. I think he joined Wimbledon CC after Mitcham folded in 1999. It would be good if someone who knew him better could provide a fuller obituary.
I see from this website that his first name was originally Stephan (his middle name was Peter) and that his dates of birth and death were 5 Jun 1959 - 5 Feb 2019. RIP.

There's also a Bedfordshire connection as I have records of playing him in the 1978 and 1979 Fleming Trophy (Bucks v Beds) matches.John Saunders wrote: ↑Thu Mar 05, 2020 1:17 pmI remember Steve as being a long-time member of the (long defunct) Mitcham CC in the 1980s and 1990s.

That is a shame - I played him in matches versus Wimbledon and CCF, and also in the CCF championship. He was always a nice opponent.
