I am sorry to report that James Pilling has died.
He passed away peacefully on Friday 18th September 2020, aged 92, at Lancaster Royal Infirmary.
The funeral took place on Thursday 1st October at Rawtenstall Cemetery.
It was announced in the Rossendale Free Press on the 2nd October and www.lancs.live on 4th October with a picture and tribute.
James was captain of Rossendale Chess Club.
He was born in Waterfoot and spent almost all his life living in the Rossendale Valley, moving to Rawtenstall, Ewood Bridge and Haslingden before spending the latter part of his life in Morecambe.
He loved cycling and cycled around Europe. He was also an avid Burnley football supporter.
