I am terribly sorry to announce that John Bycroft of Hull Chess Club has died.
He passed away on 29th December 2020 at the age of 62. He was born in Hull in 1958.
It was announced on the Yorkshire Chess Association website today.
It said "It appears he died during, or as a result of, his customary cycle-ride home after work on Tuesday 29/12/20."
There is a lengthy tribute and picture on the Hull Chess Club website.

Re: John G Bycroft
Sad news. Particularly as a fellow Hull KR and Yorkshire cricket fan, I will raise a glass to him tonight.

Now that is very sad, and far too early.
I never really met him much because I started playing Woodhouse just before Hull pulled out but Hull really were enormously strong during the decade or two before that. Thirteen Yorkshire leagues in a row, iirc.
