I am sorry to report that Celine Roos passed away on 20th April 2021, aged 67, in Strasbourg, France.
Celine was born on 22nd December 1953, who was a French and Canadian chess player and was oldest of the Roos siblings.
She came from a French chess family. Her father Michael Roos (1932-2002) won the French Chess Championship in 1964, this success was repeated by the brother Louis in 1977.
Her mother Jacqueline Roos (died in 2016) was International Correspondence Chess Grandmaster (awarded in 2000), her brother Daniel (born in 1959) became an International Master.
Celine became an International Master in 1985 and in 1990 shared second place at the International Women's Tournament in Oisterwijk.
She played for Canada in the Women's Chess Olympiads between 1980 and 1988, playing on second board. At the 1984 Olympiad, she won individual gold medal.
Celine was also an English teacher, chess coach and translator.
