I am sorry to report the death of Shettleston (and later Stepps) club member Jimmy Doyle on 12th March 2022.
He regularly played in tournaments across Scotland and the North of England.
Jimmy was partially deaf and at one Scottish tournament, Jimmy confused his opponent by accepting a draw offer that had not been made. Investigation showed the draw had actually been offered on the board immediately behind Jimmy.
Jimmy played in the Glasgow League and also the Lanarkshire & Dunbartonshire League going all the way back from the mid-1960s until well into the 2010s.
One year, Jimmy won the Grangemouth Open and also played for the Glasgow Phones club for a while.
RIP
Jimmy Doyle
