I am sorry to inform you that Brian Hopkins passed away on 29th August 2023 at the age of 93.
Brian played for Birmingham Chess Club in the Birmingham & District Chess League (BDCL) for many years.
He was still active in 2018-2019, the final season of their participation in the BDCL
I believe his last grade was 1578 in January 2021.
His passing was only reported yesterday on the Birmingham & District Chess League website.
