David Cumming 1970-2024

[Peter Ackley]

Logging into the ICCF server I noted the death of CCM David Cumming of Scotland (recorded as being on 5/5/2024).

Being based in Inverness, and rarely leaving Inverness, opportunities for OTB chess were very limited for David but he was very active in correspondence chess and was a very strong player. I played him several times over the years (I don't have the records but I think they were all draws) but was fortunate to meet him in person when I went up for the excellent Inverness congress and we had a a couple of blitz games.

Sadly I know little more than the above, although I do seem to recall that he alluded to some health issues.
