The death of the Argentine IM at the age of 84 has been announced.
Was a regular in South American chess for decades, but his biggest achievement was winning the World Junior title in 1959.
And we can chalk off another name from the dwindling number of people still alive who played Fischer.

The recently deceased Andreas Dueckstein was another name crossed off the "played RJF" list.

Bielicki won the World Junior by beating David Rumens in the last round (he had White against DRs Dutch Defence). Had Rumens won he would have been World Junior champ instead.

As runner-up Dave won an expensive Swiss watch - which was impounded by British customs on the return journey ! (He later got it back).

Nope, that was the next one in 1961, won by Bruno Parma.

Replying to James Pratt ... I appreciate the old joke, dating back to November 1964 when I first gave up chess forever and got rid of all my chess possessions including game scores. "What a mistake-a to make", to quote Captain Alberto Bertorelli. I owe immense thanks to John Saunders, who has rediscovered masses of my old games (and newer ones), transcribed them into algebraic and put them into BritBase. Such is my memory, that most of these games surprised me "did I play him ? did I play that ?" ... and among them all, there's even an occasional win - it doesn't get much better than that !
