George Dickson

Post by Christopher Kreuzer » Mon May 22, 2017 10:32 am

An obituary for George Dickson (1939-2017) has appeared on the ECF website. George died on 13 February this year, a sad loss to his team-mates and others who knew him. There is a photo of him in Scotland's Glorney Cup Team in the 1950s. Does anyone have any more recent photos of him?

EDIT: I have just been told there is an obituary on the Chess Scotland website as well. I think you have to log in to see that. Not sure if that can be made public to view in some way?

A Google search comes up with
https://www.chessscotland.com/history/b ... kson_g.htm

If you follow the link, you just get the Chess Scotland home page without any comment to say that the biographies tab is unavailable unless you login. Or perhaps such website behaviour is unintentional?

That is true, Roger, but would you be able to put your comments about Chess Scotland in a different thread? This one should be for people to post about George and memories of him. Maybe even a copy of what is at the Chess Scotland site (it may be largely what was posted at the ECF site, I am not sure).

George was an old friend and loyal member of London Central YMCA ( Centymca) during the 70's and 80's. He will be missed.

The cached version is available (for the moment) here - https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/ ... clnk&gl=il

Actually that leads on to this backdoor - https://www.chessscotland.com/forum/sho ... p?tid=1624
Ah, but I was so much older then. I'm younger than that now.
