Belarussian/Soviet GM and something of a cult player back in the 1970s/80s for his remorseless attacking style.

As with the Serb/Yugoslav Velimirovic (who died a few years ago) this meant he won few top prizes, but will still be fondly remembered.

Viktor was a team mate of mine for the last 20 years for my German team - Plettenberg.

A great chess player famous for his attacking style. I do remember he was talking us through one of his best attacking games in one of the training sessions we had with him in the late 1990's - great stuff:

In the last few years his health had declined and I only saw him sporadically last year at some of our matches.
R.I.P.

Mike many thanks for posting the link to the game - one of most creative attacking games I have seen.

Thanks too Mike. Kupreichik played at Hastings in 81/82 and his aggressive style worked well there, and kept the spectators entertained.
