World 50+, 65+ Chess Team Championships. 5-15 March 2020. Prague.
5th is the arrival day and 15th departure.
http://www.wstcc2020.net/
SUMMARY
A player must be at least 50 or 65 by 31 December 2020 in order to play.
All players must be registered ECF and at least gold card members.
All players must have a FIDE Identification Number (FIN). If you do not have one yet please contact the IRO David Clayton [email protected].
Each player must pay combined €75 team and personal entry fee.
After 25 January this goes up to €100, if accepted by the ECF and the organisers.
There is an optional transfer fee from the airport to the hotel of €10 each way.
There is a booking deposit of €150, together with the entry fee.
Bridgeoverseas will handle the bookings and payments.
[email protected] 01656 747 700 or 08000 346 246, ask for Daniel Cole. The company charges £50 per person for this work. Additionally they are prepared to handle your flights if you prefer.
Accompanying persons pay the same amount as players.
Personal registration is also required 5, or 6 March by 10am.
65+ event will take place in the Olympik Congress Hotel.
50+ event will take place in the Olympik Hotel. They are approximately 180 metres apart.
WOMEN
It is very likely we will be able to raise a women’s 50+ team this time, especially as Dr Jana Bellin has expressed an interest.
ACCOMMODATION COSTS
All players must stay at one of the four designated hotels, listed here.
Olympik Congress fb single €84, double €64 pp
Olympik fb single €84, double €64 pp
Olympik Artemis hb single €88, double €68 pp
Olympik Tristar bb single €54, double €32 pp
The last two are in very close proximity to the Olympik Congress. Personally I shall stay at the Congress. The temperature is likely to be about 10C in the day.
SCHEDULE
Technical meeting 11am for captains. Opening Ceremony 6 March at 1pm. Play 6-14 March from 3pm, except the last round 1pm. Prize giving 8pm 14 March. Departure 15 March.
Rate of play 40 moves in 90 minutes, followed by all remaining moves in 30 minutes, with an increment of 30 second every move from the first. Players must keep score throughout the game. Default time 30 minutes.
Each team consists of either 4 or 5 players with 4 playing in each round. Players may not switch teams after the event starts, nor can the team order change. A 4 player team has the advantage that you play all 9 games. 5 players means you can cope with a player being unwell. Thus for 65 plus, a 5 player team is more advisable. Also the opponents cannot prepare so well in advance against you.
Make certain you take with you your EHIC, European Health Insurance Card. The ECF does provides travel insurance
All players must fill in this form WSTCC 2020 Prague - Entry Request Form
. Please complete it by 15 January, but preferably earlier.
Some players have already booked their flights. This is unwise as there can be no certainty that everybody can be assigned to a team until we have 13 players in each of the two age groups.
