Thanks to Tim Spanton's recent posting in the Congress Diary section, I have been able to update my Seniors calendar at

with the Oberfranken tournament in late June/early July which he discovered.
This tournament appears to be the only Senior event now due to go ahead until at least August. The reason I overlooked it is that it is not included in the German chess federation's senior diary. It is open to players born in 1965 or earlier.

So hop on a Eurostar and head for Bavaria if you are brave enough.

At present the European individual championships are set to go ahead in Poland in October and the Worlds in Italy in November.

For those of us who would have to fly, I don't think 2021 can come soon enough.

The tournament in Bavaria is ongoing with 36 players. The results of the first two rounds have been posted but although round 3 should be on right now, they have not posted the draw online.

I don't think it is really wise for Senior players in Britain or Ireland to enter anything that involves flying this year. Maybe younger folks can risk it.

The World Senior Individual Championships, scheduled for Assisi, Italy, in November, have been postponed to 2021 according to a brief announcement on the organisers' website.

The European Senior Individuals, scheduled for Poland in October (originally it was to have been in March) is probably not happening either as the chess-results.com page with entry lists has gone, although ECU and the Poles don't seem to have announced a cancellation yet.

Some Senior events may still be held in Germany this year. For more information please see:

Whether overseas players would be welcomed must be doubtful.

Realistically I don't see any international senior events being held until next summer at earliest.

If anyone has access to a vaccine trial (!) or is just desperate to play, there will be tournaments at Busum (Schleswig-Holstein) and Dresden in October, another in Binz (a German Baltic resort, hard to get to) in December, after which the next I know of is in next June in Bavaria.

The German Senior Championships are currently in progress in Magdeburg, and they have redesigned their Senior calendar:

Probably they are having discussions this week about other possible tournaments and maybe later they will announce some more for 2021.

According to the Canadian Chess Federation website calendar there is the following OTB Event going ahead:

12th October Maritime Senior Chess Championship.
Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada.

According to the Australian Chess Federation Website Calendar, this event is still going ahead:

7th-8th November Queensland Seniors Chess Championship.
Bracken Ridge, Queensland, Australia.
Entrants must be a member of the Chess Association of Queensland.

Only a one-day event sadly, five entries rated 1987 - 1914. It's a long way to go for a rapidplay, much as I'd like to visit a bit of Canada that I've never been to. Luckily, I could fly from Bristol! (change in Amsterdam and Toronto) and get there in 16 hours. Maybe next year...

You have another twenty years before you become a senior. If I win the lottery I'll take you and both Tim's to Portmeirion instead.

In that case, both of them are committing fraud by drawing the state pension. You had better inform the relevant authorities.

Except for those who have specifically requested otherwise, years of birth can be found in player profiles on the FIDE website. See for example https://ratings.fide.com/profile/404020.

ECF rating and grading sites will offer lists by age categories. Kevin is in the top 100 for over 65 but not Nick.
