That may be a sensible idea, but it should not be necessary for this purpose. This sort of issue, which is not restricted to senior chess, is part of the remit of Events Commission, and they certainly have plenty of influential members ( including Dirk himself ), but they choose to ignore it.

Thanks for the reassurance that I'm not the only one. So I sent off my money today. It's probably something to do with the hotel we chose.

At least I won't be getting a huge credit card bill just before Christmas.
