Re: Beat the French Defense with 3.Nc3
The reviewer gives quite a lot of information about the author's choices against sidelines, the Rubinstein and the Classical, but then concludes "Finally(!) Hari leads us to the Winawer Variation but here he shocks the white player with his suggestion. To find out what this is you will need to buy the book!" Surprising reticence on the part of a reviewer - particularly since even the blurb (quoted in the review) discloses that the recommendation is 4.exd5.

I think this was also his recommendation in his "French Toast" Chessable courseJacques Parry wrote: ↑Mon Jun 21, 2021 8:53 pmSurprising reticence on the part of a reviewer - particularly since even the blurb (quoted in the review) discloses that the recommendation is 4.exd5.

Re: Beat the French Defense with 3.Nc3
NoHe kicks off with 3…c5 which is a good move in a Tarrasch (3.Nd2) context but a clear mistake against 3.Nc3 as White trivially loses a pawn

If White loses a pawn, isn't that a point in favour of Black's move?

Yes, a simple case of getting your whites and blacks mixed up - we've all done it.
