If there are no rooms vacant at Lysses House, it might be worth trying the nearby Red Lion https://www.greenekinginns.co.uk/hotels ... n-fareham/ where the rooms are perfectly acceptable.

I stayed at the Red Lion for the last Fareham congress and have booked there for this year - decent placeBrendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 12:06 amIf there are no rooms vacant at Lysses House, it might be worth trying the nearby Red Lion https://www.greenekinginns.co.uk/hotels ... n-fareham/ where the rooms are perfectly acceptable.

I looked at the list of entries. Good to see that you have entered Tim along with another stalwart of the forum, John Sellen. Excellent stuff.Tim Spanton wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 4:28 amI stayed at the Red Lion for the last Fareham congress and have booked there for this year - decent placeBrendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 12:06 amIf there are no rooms vacant at Lysses House, it might be worth trying the nearby Red Lion https://www.greenekinginns.co.uk/hotels ... n-fareham/ where the rooms are perfectly acceptable.

I,too, have entered although my name is not listed. They probably don’t want to frighten off other entrants.

That's good to see. Yeah, I think you will wipe the floor with most of them.Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 1:16 pmI,too, have entered although my name is not listed. They probably don’t want to frighten off other entrants.
I remember when you played me at the Blackpool Congress a few years ago. You certainly demolished me in that game.

Re: Castle Chess Fareham Congress 2021
They may already have done that by putting on the entry form "The normal maximum at this hotel is 70. Covid restrictions meant that it was necessary to reduce this to 24." and then listing over 40 entrants on their website.Brendan O'Gorman wrote: ↑Sat Sep 18, 2021 1:16 pmI,too, have entered although my name is not listed. Entries are now up to 59
Although I am really looking forward to this congress I am beginning to get concerned too many people are being crowded in
The entry form says normal maximum , pre Covid , is 70
Maybe time to stop any more entrants to allow better spacing

The entry form seems to make it clear the 70-maximum limit will be adhered to unless government advice changes:
Corona Virus: We are planning a normal over the board
tournament, but should there be restrictions placed upon
Castle Chess events we will revert to Covid Rules of play.
This could involve games being played on two boards and
with players being required to wear masks or visors.

I've been reading the restrictions and they seem to be very strict for the congress.
Tony Corfe has done well to organise it.
After reading the rules, it appears that mask wearing is mandatory in the playing hall and throughout the hotel with plenty of other safeguards.

Sorry Tim. I was reading last year's cancelled Fareham. I've noticed though a few leagues around the country that have restarted or are starting will be having mandatory wearing mostly Midlands. I'll remove part of my last post.Tim Spanton wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 7:53 pmWhere are you reading that?Simon Rogers wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 7:37 pmGood to see you on the forum again John.John Sellen wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 1:39 pmEntries are now up to 59

Are you coming to Blackpool next year if it goes ahead?
