46th Kidlington Congress

The 46th annual Kidlington Chess Tournament will be held on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of February, 2025, at our usual venue, Exeter Hall, Kidlington.

The tournament will have four sections: Open, Under-2000, Under-1800, and Under-1600. The prize fund will exceed £2200.

The 46th annual Kidlington Chess Tournament will be held on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd of February, 2025, at our usual venue, Exeter Hall, Kidlington.

As of Saturday evening (25th Jan), entries are Open 44, U2000 25, U1800 41 and U1600 30, so 140 in total.

Last year were 44, 35, 40 and 64 which was 183. I think that would have been around full capacity.

I checked my emails and a week before last year's tournament we were on 133 entries, so I'm hopeful that we'll get to 180 again. The incentive for entering early (which this year was before the 10th January) is only £2, which I guess results in many people entering in the final week instead.

I've just had a look through the entries and noticed that the joint winners of last year's Minor section, Noah Bevis and Aden Kennedy, have both entered the Open section this year!
