Yes, I noticed Matthew's latest 2450+ performance, though he had met all title requirements already (thread under ECF matters)

Easter used to be very popular for longer events and Southend might be the only survivor!
The Surrey Easter events got date clashed by e2e4 running Easter tournaments in Sunningdale or Crawley, but e2e4 no longer happens. Further afield there's the WECU Championships in Exmouth and the Welsh Championships in Cardiff. Both are seven round events with similar round timings to Southend, but the Welsh event has only one round on Easter Sunday and two on Monday. There was also the Dublin international event run by the ICU and Bolton has already been reported.

The format of the 4NCL event was a little unusual for an Easter event. Although 7 rounds, it ignored that Good Friday is a public holiday, so played Friday evening and two rounds Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

The attraction of Easter for tournaments used to be that you could fit in extended adjournment sessions. Southend may have been one of the last to abolish these.

Where there have been only a handful of events is that you can run a nine round event with limited or no overlap into working days. So Thursday evening, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. There was an Open for one or two years in Coventry which used this format.

Surrey Easter events have not been run because of no committee to organise and the few that were not 7 rounds.

it was hot here which made me unwell but still got into the office for work for a meeting today that got pushed back a couple of weeks.
most of the icy water ran out in high street Kensington with shops closing earlier than ever on an easter Monday. no tube either
