I'm not sure this has been mentioned elsewhere, but I may have missed it.
It is the anniversary of the formation in FIDE in 1924, as proposed by Leonard P Rees of Redhill Chess Club. I have a copy of his original draft letter (complete with crossings out!)
Quick edit to add
https://www.un.org/en/sections/observan ... onal-days/
which has an interesting mix of very serious titles and some slightly odd ones.

Some of them ought to be on our minds every day. I'm a bit puzzled by the 12th September "South-South cooperation day".
41 played in the ECF event with varying amounts of skill. I overlooked a mate in 1 on about move 15 in one game, but managed a neat bishop ending (until I look at it tomorrow).

The results are at

I never quite manage to fathom the numbers in Chess.com events. I too had seen 41 mentioned. The heading of the link above states that there were 45 players, but results are only given for 39.
Congratulations on finishing 7th, which is a fine result whatever the number of competitors.

I did lose a game to the talented player and organizer who came 9th...

... but you also defeated him. Current running score 2-2, I believe.
