I know this was answered at the time, but since it has been reprinted I shall say again that these events are free of all FIDE fees.Wadih Khoury wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:14 amAdam Raoof wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 10:43 pmI am doing four rapidplay events in July and August, but I would like to have 10 all play sections of 6. However FIDE would charge £70 per section to rate them!

The Isle of Man Major & Minor tournaments are not taking place this year. This is due to too much uncertainly about whether the main events (Grand Swiss and Women’s Grand Swiss) will go ahead as scheduled.

Is anyone aware of any potential week long, UK tournaments either this year or in the first quarter of next year apart from Hastings?

Only the various title norm all-play-alls being organised by a combination of Adam Raoof, Tim Wall & 4NCL and those are mostly 9 games in 5 days although I think that Adam's in October is over 7 days.Nick Burrows wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:42 amIs anyone aware of any potential week long, UK tournaments either this year or in the first quarter of next year apart from Hastings?

The ECF have hinted that they may be running a "Major Open" sometime next year. The idea being to act as a qualifier for the 2022 British as well as a tournament in its own right. Nothing about dates, formats or venues though.Nick Burrows wrote: ↑Thu Sep 16, 2021 8:42 amIs anyone aware of any potential week long, UK tournaments either this year or in the first quarter of next year apart from Hastings?
What plans are there for Gibraltar?

Re: Events in 2021
I've posted as new Topics all the chess tournaments for 2021 I have found.
No news on the Preston Chess Congress which normally takes place at the end of November.
There are plenty of tournaments hosted by Coulsdon Chess Club and also by Adam Raoof in Hendon etc.
I have found lots provisionally taking place next year which I'll post soon.

There is an advert in the latest New in Chess for a “Battle of the Sexes” tournament there Jan 24 - Feb 3. No further details, but presumably a small scale invitational man vs woman tournament, replacing the large scale Open.
