Events in 2021
I took a look at https://ratings.fide.com/rated_tourname ... ountry=ENG out of curiosity to see what's there.
There was a rapidplay in Hull listed for yesterday, but I rather think that's just not been removed.
Otherwise it's just the Northumbria Masters in August, the Northumberland weekender in September, Scarborough in October and the London Junior/Open in December.
Nothing notified to FIDE yet for the 4NCL, Hastings and others. Scarborough hasn't been FIDE rated in the past.
Nothing for Wales, Scotland or Ireland either.

Correct. Deletion was requested some time ago, but the FIDE Elista Office are always slow to act on such requests for some reason.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 7:02 pmThere was a rapidplay in Hull listed for yesterday, but I rather think that's just not been removed.
We know the proposed dates for the 4NCL.Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 7:02 pmNothing notified to FIDE yet for the 4NCL, Hastings and others.
The Hastings Congress Committee met on Saturday, but there won't be any announcement for a few weeks.

I am doing four rapidplay events in July and August, but I would like to have 10 all play sections of 6. However FIDE would charge £70 per section to rate them!
So I think I will just stick to ECF rating these...

We are happy to confirm that the FIDE Council has indeed decided "to waive rating fees for over-the-board Rapid and Blitz tournaments held in 2021 and 2022".
From the FIDE website in January!
Where did you get your figures from?

I asked the ECF....for the benefit of all, do you have a link to the page?Alex McFarlane wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 1:17 amWe are happy to confirm that the FIDE Council has indeed decided "to waive rating fees for over-the-board Rapid and Blitz tournaments held in 2021 and 2022".

FIDE has not charged for these events in years (if ever). That decision effectively extended the existing practice.
Standard play all-play-alls are expensive.

Can't you do it as a swiss (they'll still be playing al, but the pairing would be determined each round)?Adam Raoof wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 10:43 pmI am doing four rapidplay events in July and August, but I would like to have 10 all play sections of 6. Or more practically, why limit to 6 your sections? If all goes to plan, there will no longer be a rule of 6 in effect indoors and you can resume normal sections.

As a last resort, it is possible to read the Financial Rules. Silly me, why would anyone do that?Wadih Khoury wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:14 amCan't you do it as a swiss (they'll still be playing al, but the pairing would be determined each round)?

Did you ask what FIDE would charge the ECF or what the ECF would charge you? There is no reason why they have to be the same.

It'll be interesting to see if the Northumbria Masters goes ahead at the advertised venue as the Newcastle Novotel Hotel is currently being used to house asylum seekers and was the source of a recent Covid outbreak:Roger de Coverly wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 7:02 pmOtherwise it's just the Northumbria Masters in August, the Northumberland weekender in September, Scarborough in October and the London Junior/Open in December.

The hotel's website doesn't appear to allow public bookings before 1st October.
My interest does go beyond the chess tournament as I have a long-standing reservation there in September, and am trying to find out if I need to find an alternative.

The only reason that line is on the website is that I drew the omission to their attention!David Sedgwick wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 7:38 pmAdam Raoof wrote: ↑Mon Apr 12, 2021 10:43 pmI am doing four rapidplay events in July and August, but I would like to have 10 all play sections of 6. The Torbay Chess Congress
Welcome to the website of the annual Torbay Chess Congress.
Coronavirus Update
With deep regret the 2020 Congress has been cancelled because of the ongoing implications of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On a positive note, we are planning to hold the 2021 Congress on Armistice weekend (12th - 14th November). We hope to start accepting entries for the 2021 Congress around the middle of 2021.

If both take place as currently scheduled, for once there isn't a clash with a 4NCL weekend.Ronnie Burton wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 8:20 pmOn a positive note, we are planning to hold the 2021 Congress on Armistice weekend (12th - 14th November).
