We have posted an update about the Rapidplay on the Nottinghamshire Chess Association website:

"31st Nottingham Rapidplay

There would be the following sections:-

Major – Players rated below 1900, 1st prize £100 2nd £50, Rating prize £20: U1800

Intermediate – Players rated below 1700, 1st prize £100 2nd £50, Rating prize £20: U1600

After a gap of one year, entries are now being taken for the 31st Nottingham Rapidplay at Nottingham High School on Sunday 20 February 2022:

https://www.nottinghamshirechess.org/competitions/ (use the "Tournaments" tab to locate further information).

There is a link on this page to an entry form. For convenience, here it is: https://rapidplay.nottinghamshirechess. ... m_2022.pdf

Entries can be made online from another link.

Unfortunately, we are not able to accept payments online too, so please post a cheque to the address indicated. This will not be banked until close to the event, just in case the event has to be cancelled (in which case, cheques would be destroyed).

A record 151 entrants braved some very wet weather to play in the Nottingham Rapidplay today.

Results of the five sections may be viewed at https://chess-results.com/tnr610854.aspx?lan=1&art=0

The Nottinghamshire Chess Association website will carry details of the prize-winners in due course and also the entry form for the Nottingham Congress (23-24 April) will be posted in March.

Many thanks to all who played, including many for whom this was their first OTB event; to those who helped organise; to Chess Direct for providing the equipment once again; to the new Nottinghamshire Chess Foundation which agreed to underwrite the event if it attracted low numbers and made a loss; to generous benefactor Marcel Taylor for enhancing the prizes.

Congratulations to all the prize-winners!

Congratulations! From memory, you will receive a third share of the slow starter prize (for those who scored no more than 1/3) netting the princely sum of £10. Don't forget to add some royalties since I bought a copy of your book A Disreputable Opening Repertoire.
