I'm glad you enjoyed it. I was hiding upstairs with the Open, but I have to say I was really impressed with the Committee that organized the tournament. Players in the other sections will have seen them in the control area. I would receive frequent visits with offers of furniture shifts, re-setting clocks, putting out score sheets, and even better, cups of tea. Having done a few tournaments elsewhere where there seems to be little or no support, it was fantastic to have about ten people rushing around and making the event work. Most of the players were nice as well!

Absolutely! It was very well organised including the analysis rooms, on-site catering, book stalls, parking arrangements and everything! Kudos to all the organisers!!!
P.S. Will the pictures from the event be put up anywhere?

I think the pictures taken by Chris Lamming and Brendan O'Gorman should appear somewhere but I'm not sure where and when! They may need to do an awful lot of photoshopping for some individuals...

Thanks for the compliments - I've told the committee to look at this link. After a gruelling weekend, it's nice if players take the time to say, "thank you"! Suggestions for improvements are welcome of course.

Indeed, the Open had 5 female players out of 52, and at least 10 sinistrals. (Some were both.)

TIL what a "sinistral" is.

i was going to look up 'sinistral' but had to look up 'TIL' first. And Kevin has reached 5,000 posts in May.

I was aware post 5000 was looming and wondered how I could celebrate it, then noticed there were lots of left-handed players in the Frome Open, and thought, why not?
