Stewart Reuben and I were on Leicester Radio last week talking about the British Championships of yesteryear, making comparisons with today. Did anybody hear it? I am just wondering if it was even used.
The only thing I could find was an interview with Nigel Towers on BBC Radio Leicester on the 21st July:

Minor technical issue with the new national champion Lan Yao.
I tried to find a mention about her here and was knocked back: 'Each word must consist of at least 4 characters....' I tried various ways to work around this but eventually only way was to go off and site google 'Lan Yao + English chess forum'

I'd like to see a picture of Adams with his prize.

There's a few more comments I could make about the champs... might be controversial...
But here's what's on my mind now...
ECF seem to be saying... oh you must must be a Bronze/Silver member etc to play rated games...
What about people in foreign federations? What do they pay towards the ECF and chess in the UK etc?

People whose FIDE affiliation is something other than ENG do not need ECF membership to play in FIDE-rated events in England (with, I think, a specific exception for the British Championships). There is no distinction between English players and foreigners for events that are not FIDE-rated.

I honestly get why some GMs like Davies and Turner chose not to be part of English fed...
Hmms...
Should be fair treatment...

Nagel Davies became Welsh, but now he's English again, for FIDE purposes at least.
