There are pictures(including Michael Adams) and more games posted on this website:

I think it is a Serbian website.

This got me thinking once again about the ethics of the 'I know I'm lost' draw offer.

Fair enough, I think, in Mickey's case; his opponent would have had to find f3.

I remember being annoyed when the late George Ellison offered me a draw in a totally lost endgame. I was 12.

Did you go on to win it?

I did indeed. Even I couldn't mess that one up.

It was, I felt, poor etiquette. Mickey, on the other hand, was not clearly lost - although he must have felt it was heading that way.

He used to tell me off for beating him from drawn endings. I think he believed that getting short of time should be a passport to splitting the point. Other than that, nice chap.

Normal service resumed. Adams (Mickey) has moved smoothly to 5.5/6 with wins against Gormally and Fernandez in rounds 5 and 6. He is playing IM Peter Roberson in round 7.

He beat Roberson and then Shafi and is a point clear going into the last round

Black’s last move in the game Fernandez - Itgelt in round 8 turned a probable win into an immediate loss, and it was a very significant game in the chasing places. These GMs are never lost until they have lost.

Last round draw sees Adams win with 8/9.

Lower down, a re-match of the last round of the British, with Grieve vs Payne.

Oops, my mistake. I confused Wadsworth and Payne! (I think because both are Matthew). :oops:

I see Nina Pert beat my one-time team-mate Mike Smart in the last round. Recognise a few other names as well.

I see Chris Rice seems to have not made it to the board in time for round 1 (see the horse-box traffic jam post earlier). I wonder how many people were affected by that?

Using Chessbase 17 and looking at the "Live" folder we have the Cambridge International Open.

Some of the games are labelled as being annotated by

[NA RC COMBH}

and some by [TA}

I assume these are persons initials but who are they?

Has someone transcribed comments from the live commentary?

I got there at 12.30pm on Wednesday, missing the 10am start time by a country mile, having been stuck in the car for five hours for what was supposed to be a hour and a quarters journey arriving with a blinding headache. Matthew Carr was very understanding as I really was in no mood for any chess after that. I realised it was a beautiful venue from the short time I was there, well it's Cambridge after all so recommended if they run it again next year and hopefully they will find a way to increase the numbers.

At least one of the invited English GMs was suitably appreciative.

I couldn't see anything on the link which is a pity as Danny's comments are always interesting. Not sure if the problem is at my end or Danny deleted the message later. I did, however, get an email from Shohreh yesterday, she has spoken to the hotel and clearly they must have thought the tournament went well for them as she says there is a very high chance that they will run it again next year.
