After lots of unsuccessful searching for a reasonably priced venue in the city centre, the Congress moves to Bolton Arena, next to Horwich Parkway railway station, near the football stadium

The Bolton Arena, Arena Approach, Horwich, Bolton BL6 6LB; Parking is Free

ACCOMMODATION
Premier Inn and Whites Hotel are adjacent to the venue.

FIDE rated Open
ECF rated Major (Under 1930) and Knights Under 1630)
Five round Swiss tournaments.
Time control for Open 110 + 10. Major and Knights 80 + 10

FIDE OPEN: 1st Place £500; 2nd Place £250; GP Under 2050: £75

MAJOR: 1st Place £300; 2nd Place £150; GP Under 1750: £50

MINOR: 1st Place £300; 2nd Place £150; GP Under 1550: £50

Registration
Entrants to the FIDE RATED OPEN should be ECF Gold Members or higher
Entrants to all other sections should be ECF members at Silver Level or higher

Junior Championship 18th August 2023
Junior Championship: Trophies for Boys and Girls for the top three places plus three best game prizes.
Manchester Junior Championship 20 minutes plus 10 seconds increments each move,

Thanks to sponsorship from the University of Bolton, the Junior event on the Friday is now free to enter (those who have already paid will receive a full refund)

Currently 5 players over 2300 in the FIDE Open among the 52 entrants

26 in the Major and 54 in the Knights

50 juniors in Friday's event, which is free to enter

Late fee after today, places still available

The Twitch stream will be from FM Jonathan Blackburn and WIM British Ladies champion 2023 Lan Yao Rounds 1-3 and GM Pete Wells will cover round 4 and 5 with Jonathan Blackburn

Twitch Stream will start 30 minutes after the round starts

Round 1 18:00 to 22:00
Round 2 10:00 to 14:00
Round 3 14:30 to 18:30
Round 4 10:00 to 14:00
Round 5 14:30 to 18:30

Hi Keith, yes might call in tomorrow evening, been a busy week, Kristin's reasonably happy with her A level results today so she's off to Hull in a month to do Psychology, and passed her driving test yesterday :D
