Regret to inform anybody here who was looking forward to this - or had indeed already entered and/or booked accommodation - that this years's gathering has been cancelled at rather short notice.
This is apparently due to a major biking meet in Barrow that weekend, to remember the TV star and native of the town Dave Myers.
One of the more unusual reasons for a chess event being called off, I am sure you will agree.
