Love chess and beach holidays? Well it won't be long now. The ACO Championships and the Super-Seniors Over-65s Championships take place at the remarkable Atlantica-Belvedere Hotel in Kos between 6 May 2025 & 15 May 2025 and 15 May 2025 & 24 May 2025 respectively. Currently there are seven English entries for the first and nine for the second, with two Irish and one Isle of Man.
Entries are now open for the Over-50 Seniors which take place in Crete at the Fodele Beach Hotel and Water Park. These take place from 1 to 10 October 2025. There’s a €200 discount for those booking before the end of March. There’s already 13 English entries, including three from Dartford Chess Club.
Both Hotels are all-inclusive and have lots of water so pack a box of alka-seltzer with your water wings.
Oh! And GM Daniel King will be one of three Grandmasters helping the amateurs with their post-game analysis at all three events, conducting lectures and playing simuls. Daniel has analysed three games from Crete 2024 on his YouTube Channel. These were judged by the three GMs as the best games they analysed.
