Brian,
Thank you for organising an excellent congress with good lighting, plenty of space and carpet on the floor. You were ably assisted on the day by Paul Bielby and Ernie Lazenby. Middlesbrough, the town, turned out to be rather better than I'd expected. I've posted some photos here:

Good to see chess on Teeside is alive & kicking......
Looking ahead...just wondering if any of the players from that area can put a team together for the new 4NCL Northern League.
It caters for a good range of playing strength, from circa 140 up to around 225, and is for teams of 6 players.
Last season saw its debut and it proved to be very good, with some excellent venues...not least the one near Darlington/Bishop Auckland... a Barcelo Hotel /De Vere`s near the A1(M). I`ll also mention the Majestic at Harrogate.
Anyway, great chess fayre for fellow Northern players, and the Finals w/e at Hinckley with over 500 players proved a great finale. See reports, tables, pictures, news on the 4NCL website for more information...
Next season kicks off in October, so still time to get teams/players together. It would be good to see more of our northern areas represented...I know that a team from Newcastle/Tyneside is already being assembled....
